Restoration Hardware Lamps -the look for less

I have admired these lamps at Restoration Hardware for some time. The $369 US each price tag was way way out of our budget.

While shopping at HomeSense last month I came across a pair of very similar lamps. They were on clearance marked down to $35 each including the shades. The finial is missing but I am keeping an eye out for some. Here they are:

Some detail pics:

I am very happy with the lamps and we are using them in our bedroom at present. I am in the process of painting our bedroom, hall and stairway right now and the nighttables are looking different than in the photos. I will post more when I finish. Thanks for stopping by! I do love a bargain.

  2. Gorgeous lamps! I have been keeping an eye out for nice lamps lately but no luck. I see in your profile we share the same dream of becoming romance novelists! That is how I imagine spending my retirement - best of luck to you!

  5. Hi Elizabeth!
I wanted to pop in and answer your quetion about those boxes.
    I didn't use a sealer/varnish on them.
I used a brown tinted paste wax to age them, depending on how much you wipe it off or "buff" it...depends on the sheen you get.
they aren't really shiny, but if the light hits them a certain way, you do see the sheen from the wax finish.

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for visitng me :)

  6. Great deal. I see you are like me & use the expensive version as inspiration & then find or make a cheaper version. Your lamps look every bit as good as the expensive ones. You go girl!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog & leaving me such a nice comment. It means a lot to me.

  7. Me again, I got your comment and wanted to tell you that it's briwax,

paste wax is (usually) a harder waxier wax, briwax is softer...creamier I guess is how I would discribe it.
I have used both...briwax is more expensive, harder to find, but works the best.
    Also, you can try stain...
    Just wanted to clarify! :)

    hugs!

  8. Your lamps are so pretty. It is just so satisfying to find something that is reasonably price but looks so similar to something that is way too expensive. These are so similar to the ones you originally admired. Don't you just gloat every time you look at them? laurie
