I bought a kit to make this watermelon pincushion in St. Jacobs two summers ago and finally completed it.
I love that this pincushion is nice and large and the fabrics are so pretty.
This is the first time I have used a combination of batting and crushed walnut shells but I really like how the crushed shells add some weight and shape.
Night time shots in my hobby room of the fabrics being pieced.
The 'seeds' are made from french knots.
My studio needs some tidying and I am planning a few changes, but you can see it for the Where Bloggers Create 2011 tour here.
This hot weather is keeping us indoors more than usual but at least I am getting a few projects completed.

Well done on making the pincushion. I love the fabrics and that it makes a Menno version of a watermelon.
that is too cool. at 1st i thought it was a saddle. you could do that as well. so creative & fun. would be great for a christmas gift for friends & family. (:
Isn't that cute. I think somewhere in my patters I have a runner the shape of a watermelon.
That is SO STINKIN CUTE! I absolutely love it. In fact I wanna search for one of those lil projects to do now! :)
What a lovely little pin cushion. Yes it is too hot to spend lots of time outside. I just picked up some material to line my latest crochet bag I've just completed.
Now that is one cute pincushion!
I've never seen a pin cushion like that before, that is the cutest thing!

Hi Elizabeth,
Your pin cushion looks wonderful, I love it. I like the way that you styled it to photograph it, too.
